That may seem like a contradiction but freedom requires that others trust you and that trust is gained not only by following the laws but also by good manners. I don't think that Freedom is the American Dream, all freedoms/rights have limits and taken to extremes can infringe on the freedoms of others. I think the founding fathers intended to create a society in which the individual, inalienable right to Life, Liberty, and Property could not be deprived from a person except by jury trial.
